Wolfgang Hartmann celebrates his 75th birthday on August 16, 2024. The Board of Directors and all members congratulate the founder of FIRM and wish him all the best.
Hartmann laid the foundations for the Frankfurt Institute for Risk Management and Regulation (FIRM) in 2008/2009 – in the wake of the financial crisis. His aim was to raise awareness of risk management in banks and to promote exchange between business and academia.
He was able to win over many committed supporters from the financial industry for his project. Deutsche Bank, Helaba and DZ-Bank were among the founding members. He also brought Frankfurt’s universities, Goethe University and Frankfurt School, on board as partners.
Hartmann was FIRM’s Chairman of the Board until 2017. He is still a committed supporter of the association today as an honorary member and honorary chairman of the board. Among other things, he donates the FIRM Yearbook Prize, which is endowed with 1000 euros, every year.
FIRM is the leading think tank for risk management in German-speaking countries and currently has more than 40 institutional members from all areas of the financial industry. The network also includes almost 50 academic representatives and over 40 personal members.
