The FIRM Yearbook Prize 2024 goes to Dr. Rainer Glaser from Oliver Wyman for his contribution on the control and validation of Generative AI (GenAI).
Congratulations!
Once a year, FIRM awards the prize of 1,000 euros for the best specialist article in the FIRM Yearbook. An expert jury of experienced scientists and practitioners selected Glaser’s analysis on the validation of AI models from more than 40 contributions.
The article highlights the central importance of the control and validation of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). Since the release of tools such as ChatGPT, GenAI has become the focus of many companies that want to use the technology in various functional areas.
The development of frameworks and approaches to ensure the reliability and accuracy of GenAI models is crucial for successful deployment. Using the example of the NewsTrack system, which uses large language models (LLMs) to make real-time predictions about negative events for companies, the article shows how these models can be checked using transparent explanations and innovative test methods. Because only through careful control and validation will it be possible to create trust in GenAI and exploit its full potential.
The FIRM Yearbook Prize is donated by FIRM honorary member Wolfgang Hartmann and is awarded annually at the FIRM Autumn Conference.
