The application phase for the fifth FIRM Research Award is underway. We are looking for the best economic dissertation in the field of “Financial Intermediaries”.

Dissertations that were completed in 2022 or 2023 at a university in the European Monetary Union with the grade summa cum laude or magna cum laude and that contribute significantly to a better understanding of modern financial markets and intermediation can be submitted. When awarding the research prize, particular emphasis is placed on the relevance of the research question, a balanced combination of internationally recognized theoretical and conceptual work of high quality and an innovative approach to economic application.

The deadline for submission is February 28, 2024. The prize is endowed with 30,000 euros, half of which goes to the researcher and half to the supervising university.

From all submissions, a strong jury of representatives from science and industry, headed by Prof. Dr. Günter Franke and Prof. Dr. Rainer Klump, will select the three works that best meet the requirements of high-quality theoretical and conceptual groundwork and innovative practical relevance. The three doctorates will be presented at the FIRM Research Conference 2024, which will take place at Frankfurt School on June 20, 2024. The presentation and discussion at the conference are the final deciding factors in the awarding of the prize.
